Birthright.

Right or wrong,
Tension makes us stronger
By making us weak
When we needed to be.

But what doesn't kill us
Makes us stronger they say
But our only birthright
In this life, is the
Breath that we take.

You are treasured.

I find it interesting that the exterior of someone has such an effect on the person’s inside. --allow me to preface by saying that I too judge a person by their exterior-- How one looks gives a person meaning & a feeling of security. It also gives that person a predisposed attitude towards life. Those who are seemingly better to gaze at, will routinely be more confident & candid with life. They will see themselves as being a leader, whereas when I see someone who does not have the exterior of a model, they seem to keep their gaze downcast when passing those who do. As if somehow their exterior exposes a piece of their character that should be shamed. This is a crying shame. We see pretty girls flock together, while they ignore the quirky, awkward ones who are seemingly shoved into the corner until someone comes along to tell them they are just as beautiful & worthy of love as the others. If we want to affect the attitudes & minds of those around us, I believe we must continually tell them they are worthy of love.

I’ve seen a lot of young girls continually make terrible decisions for themselves because I believe they don’t think they deserve what is best for them. They date men who beat them, they purge to be skinner, they stay with men who make them feel like the dog feces they just stepped in on the sidewalk. –allow me to also say, this is NOT a man-hating rant. Only an observation of how the way we treat & encourage one another drastically affects what we believe about ourselves— I’ve also seen girls who are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen believe that they are ugly because of how their parents interacted or because, again personal observation, they weren’t told of how much value they are to the Maker of Heaven & Earth.

How we treat one another & encourage one another will have a lasting affect on what we believe about ourselves. We can tell ourselves that only what I say matters, but deep down we know that what others say cuts DEEP. One simple word can throw off a person’s day. One hug can make someone who feels unworthy of love feel loved again. We must always remember that what we say, how we treat others can either allow them to experience the love of Christ or turn them to everything in this world that will eventually FAIL them. Please, I beg of you, speak with the assurance of knowing that we are loved despite being a rebellious, unruly people. Speak with the knowledge that there are some people who are never told that they are worthy of the love of the King of the Universe, the one who sustains all things by His powerful word.

You are loved by the only one who matters. You are beautiful because you are displaying a piece of the Lord’s image that no one else can display. YOU ARE TREASURED.

Love is patient.

A few thoughts.

I hate it when I pass up opportunities and then they aren't available to me when I'm ready for them to be offered again. I feel cheated. I feel as though I'm making the worst decisions. I feel as though I'm the most fickle persone alive. I wish life were more simple. There are days I wish emotions were automatically displayed on someone's sleeve as though it were an ever-changing tattoo. These are the days where I realize my dependence is not on the Lord, but on men. It sickens me. These are the days when I'm ready to go home to the Father because I get so exhausted with life's decisions. But that's the easy way out and the Lord has a lot more to teach me, grow me; I have a lot of struggling to do on this earth & I know He'll be here for me throughout it all. I have a Savior that is all sufficient & will ALWAYS rescue me, no matter what that looks like.

This song just came on my Pandora station. Jason Walker- "Down"

I don’t know where I’m at
I’m standing at the back
And I’m tired of waiting
Waiting here in line, hoping that I’ll find what I’ve been chasing.

I shot for the sky
I’m stuck on the ground
So why do I try, I know I’m gonna fall down
I thought I could fly, so why did I drown?
Never know why it’s coming down, down, down.

I'm not ready to let go
Cause then I'd never know
What I could be missing
But I’m missing way too much
So when do I give up, what I’ve been wishing for.

Good lyrics. Often how I feel when I'm trying to do it all by myself.

Onto what I'm reading today:

A hard truth, but altogether true-
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God & keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil."

2 Corinthians 8:7
"But just as you excel in everything-- in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us-- see that you also excel in this grace of giving. I am not commanding you, but I want to test the sincerity of your love by comparing it with the earnestness of others. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich."

Psalm 50:1-2
"The Might One, God, the Lord, speaks & summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth."

I will continue to rest in the Lord. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's worth it.

Readings for today:

Job 24:18-24
"Yet they are foam on the surface of the water; their portion of the land is cursed, so that no one goes to the vineyards. As heat & drought snatch away the melted snow, so the grave snatches away those who have sinned. The womb forgets them, the worm feasts on them; evil men are no longer remembered but are broken like a tree. They prey on the barren & childless woman, and to the widow show no kindness. But God drags away the mighty by his power; though they become established, they have no assurance of life. He may let them rest in a feeling of security, but his eyes are on their ways. For a little while they are exalted & then they are gone; they are brought low & gathered up like all others; they are cut off like heads of grain. "

Job 26:5-14

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion & the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."

2 Corintians 1:21-22
"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."

Psalm 41:13
"Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen & Amen.

Reading for today:

Job- 19:25-27 "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes- I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!"

Amen, amen. Job has been struck down, nothing left & he is still defending & upholding the Lord.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love."

Psalm 40:
"I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud & mire; he set my feet on a rock & gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see & fear and put their trust in the Lord.

Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak & tell of them, they would be too many to declare.

Sacrifice & offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced, burnt offerings & sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, "Here I am, I have come-- it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."

I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O Lord. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness & salvation. I do not conceal your love & your truth from the great assembly."

Today I rest in the Lord. Today I seek His shelter. Today I come before the King of Kings in submission, with the knowledge that His plan is better than any that I can micro-organize/orchestrate. It is the plan He has set before me and I shall walk it even when it's not ideal. I shall throw off all that hinders & run the race I was chosen to run.

1 Corinthians 9:26-27

26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Amen.
